Local Initiatives

We anticipate that we have reached the point in our community where there is no more need for residential units, at least not for the foreseeable future. We would rather turn our development to promoting our products from the land and workshops and to providing a place where we can meet with the general public.

We are thinking of moving the Bakery to a more accessible location and adding to it a café / coffee shop / craft shop where we can offer the products, which we produce in the community in one location.

The aspect of providing an informal meeting place for people inside and outside our community plays a big part in our considerations for this project. We believe that in conjunction with our existing Riverwalk a café/coffee shop would be an attractive recreational feature in our locality. This whole project could also create more day activity possibilities for people inside and outside our community.

We haven't yet come further than having the imagination of this project and would need to put in a lot of effort to secure funding and come up with the right plans, which are acceptable to everybody living in the community.

Also there is still our wish that one day we would be able to have a new Hall to replace our old one. This old hall, which was originally a coach house, has served us over the years very well, but we have experienced that we have nearly out grown it because we are now more people then when it was first built. On several occasions we have reached the limit of this space especially at events like concerts by visiting artists where people from outside the Community are invited or our annual Christmas play for friends and neighbours and on occasions when family and friends of our villagers are invited.
